December 12 to December 16, 2022 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

The beta version of our fully-revamped API is now out in the wild. Wanna take it for a spin? Request we flip the switch for your school on our Discord server's API channel. Oh, what's that? You're not on our Discord server yet? You don't even know what I'm talking about? Enlighten yourself, then get thee to the aforementioned channel where you can learn more about the API beta.

There's a new Populi logo in the upper right of the screen. Every so often it will light up—when it does, you can click it to read about new stuff we've just released or other notices.

Account > Settings > Security has a new setting that controls the level of access faculty and TA's have to private contact information. If you shut it off, those users won't be able to see or use any contact info that's set to Private. There's also a halfway setting that lets them only see private info for students in courses they're teaching.

Test essay questions have a new word-counter. Now you can require students to cough up a minimum number of words for these questions.

Email templates now have CC and BCC fields, which they somehow didn't have before last night.

Added a setting to Lesson assignment sections that allows the assignment to be accessed via the Course > Assignments view even if it's not yet accessible via the lesson.

Upgraded the various heading styles in Lesson content block formatting to better accommodate screen readers.

The People Importer in Contacts can now import Citizenship information.

The Academic Term > Faculty report has a new Course Campus filter.

Bugfixes

Fixed a bug with the checkboxes on the Inquiries report that did not respect the checkboxes when you wanted to assign representatives only to the checked inquiries; basically, we made the checkboxes more worthy of respect.

Videos and Focus Sessions

The Focus Sessions we announced last week were the last of 2022. Buuuuut...

  • ...they get rolling again on January 3, 2023, 11:00 AM Pacific time with Introduction to Running Courses, which peers closely at course settings, lessons, assignments, discussions, tests, grading, and so on. This will be most useful to Academic Admin, Faculty, and Teaching Assistant users.
  • And they continue on January 5th, 2023, 11:00 AM Pacific time with Introduction to Student Billing, which'll look at pending charges, invoices, transactions, payments/credits, tuition schedules, fees and so on. This will be most useful to Financial Admin and Student Billing users.

By now you've probably gathered that Josh likes to delve into things, and this being the Christmas season, we gave him the gift of letting him delve into Degree Audits whilst standing before a camera, which, in turn, he has turned into a gift for those of you who want to better understand what you're looking at when you're on Profile > Student > Degree Audit.
