Features & Improvements
The big news this week is course co requisites. You can now require students to enroll in other courses in order to successfully enroll in a given course. For example:
- You add LAB201 as a corequisite to SCI201 on the SCI201 catalog course page.
- You add SCI201 to your Fall 2018 term; as soon as you do, a warning tells you to also add LAB201.
- When students self-enroll for SCI201, the Registration view requires them to also enroll in LAB201 (if you use different registration methods, you'll see notices to the same effect).
We also added a new option for prerequisites: you can indicate whether students have to take the prereq before they take the course, or if they may take the prereq concurrently with the course in question.
You can now print refund checks directly from Populi using the Print Check option in the Refund Credit Balance dialog. Get started by setting up a Check Template. (If you want to keep doing as you did before, you'll want to use the Record Check option.)
Admissions > Applications > Summary has a new filter condition for students who also have an aid application.
The above note earlier erroneously stated the following: The Aid Applications report (you know, the one in Financial Aid) has a new filter condition for students with an ISIR file attached. This note was aggressively wrong! My sincere apologies... - Brendan.
If you're using the Canvas integration, you can now create a Canvas username based on the student's Populi username that isn't also an email address. So, you can have username
jimmypeabody
instead of
jimmypeabody@school.edu
.
There's a new Purchase Order setting in Account > Invoices/Payments that lets you add a purchase order number to your Populi invoices. This'll help your school's bean-counters stay on top of all the beans they have to count.
Test availability exceptions can now go beyond the course end date.
The new Hidden From Students setting in Programs lets you hide transcripts, degree audits, and grade histories from students in that program.
Bugfixes
Cloned assignments would sometimes claim to be part of a cloned lesson that it clearly wasn't. Let it be know that we have no tolerance for con artists and grifters like that..
Merging publishers in Library would get you a whitescreen and no merge. Now you get a merge and no whitescreen!
Fixed some confusing things in Payment Plans; without going into the details, the upshot is that you can now have a Payment Plan with fixed amounts the whole way through.
Fixed a bug that wouldn't let you delete your discussion comment if you tried to do so after using one of the discussion sort options.
