March 6 to March 10, 2023 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Some weeks the feature list can barely drag a technical writer out of bed. Other weeks, he springs out from under the comforter two hours before his alarm goes off, champing at the bit to write about the stupendous new features now available to Populi users.

This is one of those weeks.

The those refers to the first kind of week, unfortunately. Because all that left the office this week is the fact that the default Activity Feed visibility for Financial Aid Disbursement and Financial Aid Refund emails now includes the Financial Admin, Financial Aid, and Student Billing roles (instead of just the Financial Aid role).

Bugfixes

Print Previews for exports using .odt templates wouldn't render characters from the Korean alphabet.

Used to be if you were editing an academic year so that its timespan overlapped with another year's, then it just wouldn't save. Now it fails more gracefully: you get an error telling you why what you're doing isn't working.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Next week's Focus Sessions arrrrre:

  • Introduction to Admissions, which we mentioned in last week's The Populi Show, gets into application settings, designing your application, processing applications, managing leads and so on. This will be most useful to Admissions and Admissions Admin users. It's scheduled for March 14th, 2023, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • On the other hand, Introduction to Running Courses has little, if nothing, to say about Admissions stuff, choosing rather to delve into course settings, lessons, assignments, discussions, tests, grading, and so on. This will be most useful to Academic Admin, Faculty, and Teaching Assistant users. It's scheduled for March 16th, 2023, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

With his signature Hey everybody, Josh from Populi here... our very own Josh from Populi starts off a video about understanding Profile > Financial for student accounts.
