Text Formatting

Several text-entry fields in Populi let you format your text, insert emoji, and embed images, videos, and documents.

Text formatting

To format text, enter the appropriate symbols immediately before and after the text you wish to enhance.

• *bold* = bold
• _italics_ = italics
• #underlined# = underlined
• ^superscript^ = ^superscript
• ~subscript~ = _subscript
• +highlighted text+ = highlighted text

You can also combine symbols... for instance, *_Hoo boy! Am I ^excited^!_* becomes Hoo boy! Am I ^excited!

Emoji

Populi also supports emoji characters. For example, :smile: becomes , :santa: becomes , and :rice_scene: becomes .A full list of supported emoji codes can be found on the Populi website.

Automatic links, media embedding

By entering/pasting a valid URL, you can do the following:

• Embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo, documents from Scribd or Prezi, or images from Instagram.
• Create a clickable link to a web page.
• Embed an image when the URL ends in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, or .bmp.
