Features & Improvements

Released a thing or two or fourteen this week...

The new Respondent Permissions setting on Forms lets you determine whether a respondent may fill out a form on behalf of another. Say, an advisor filling out a course substitution form on behalf of an advisee, or an admin filling out a job evaluation form on behalf of a teaching assistant. And so on... let's see what y'all come up with!

Using LTI links, you can now use the proctoring service Proctorio with Populi tests.

When you search for an organization, its profile pic will accompany its name in the search results.

You can also now search for people by username.

Fiddled with a couple things on Room Plans:

  • The Add Room Plan dialog on profiles has moved the Plan selector below the Room selector and now shows the selected room's default plan.
  • If a room is at capacity, you won't be able to select it in that dialog.
  • The above improvement accompanies a bugfix that could result from filling a room via Campus Life.

Buildings and Rooms have new statuses for Inactive and Retired.

You can now invoice $0.00 fees and create $0.00 invoices, handy in U.S. States like New York that require you to show certain free or no-cost materials as line items on invoices.

A new automation condition can trigger an event when a student withdraws from all courses in a term.

Another new automation, different from the one just mentioned (thus the word, another), can trigger events when an aid award is added to a student.

To an old automation—to wit: Person Updated—we added an Active/Inactive Role filter.

All the action links that used to line the top of applications are now subsumed in the "kabob". There's also a new action to Regenerate Application Link. And application links for deleted people no longer work (I'm puzzled that they ever worked, but they did...).

Admissions > Settings > Application Forms has a new Status filter.

Added some accessibility improvements such that screen readers can now read autocomplete fields.

The change log now records when a course meeting is cancelled, deleted, or restored.

The URL for the Profile > Registration view has been updated to conform with our other profile view conventions.

  • Old: https://yourschool.populiweb.com/router/academics/registration/1234/show
  • New: https://yourschool.populiweb.com/router/contacts/people/1234/student/registration

New API stuff:

  • When you create a new user through the API, you now get to choose between giving them an SSO login or a Populi login.
  • Notes have flags, and flags are now an expandable property of notes.
  • The API now tells you whether a given communication plan has been completed.

The iFrame whitelist now includes genially.com.

Race/ethnicity reporting in the ABHE report has been updated to match how it's done in IPEDS.

Bugfixes

The Manage Tuition Schedules action dialog was missing the From: and To: drop-downs for replacing tuition schedules.

Some merged spouses in mailing lists were displaying the wife's info by default.

If a Likert form field was set to required, you could make one selection and the whole field would be considered completed. Which was wrong!

The College Financing Plan needed lots of updates and fixes to conform to the new 2024-25 requirements.

Sorting by course section on Academic Term > Courses didn't work with non-numeric course sections.
