October 21 to October 25, 2024 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

After weeks of hanging back with new feature releases, we decided to just unload the dump truck.

We got rid of the Initial Email setting on applications and replaced it with a whole new Notifications feature. On the application, it's a separate tab that lets you add as many custom notifications for various events in the application process. There's a built-in Initial Email notification for the applicant, and you can add new ones that update people when the application status changes, when references are submitted, as well as other events.

Some updates to forms:

  • The person-merger now includes relevant form response data.
  • The big Change Log in Account > Reporting lets you restore deleted forms and logs form creation/deletion.
  • A new form notification variable lets you include the entirety of a form response in the notification.
  • New HTML print layout types for printing form responses (and applications, too).
  • There's a new indicator that shows when a field is used to trigger a conditional field elsewhere in the form.
  • There's a header image setting.
  • Linked fields now include donor custom fields.

The Registration screen has a tooltip detail for unmet prereq courses. Students can click it and see which prereqs the course requires—and which ones the student has or hasn't fulfilled.

Bookstore and Library have new settings for custom header text.

We've built a course catalog importer tool that can ingest course catalogs exported from legacy systems and port them over into Populi's course catalog. It will primarily be of use during implementation, but you never know when something like that might come in handy.

Names on profiles (for people and organizations) now have a dropdown that lets you edit or copy the name, show a person's full name, or edit an organization's type.

Added a SAP status setting where Populi calculates SAP for students who withdraw from all courses after the second week of an academic term. There's also a checkbox to indicate whether a given SAP status can be appealed.

Tuned up the WYSIWYG editor for test questions so that highlighted text works in dark or light mode.

If a student uploads an assignment file or essay, he can now delete it if it the prof hasn't yet viewed it or graded it.

Added a way to re-order the report columns in the Data Slicer.

Automations can now fire when a lock is added or removed, as well as when a specific inquiry form is submitted.

Donations lets you choose whether to show a Captcha all the time (and not just when there's suspicious activity).

You can now bulk export financial statements as individual PDFs rather than one big fat unwieldy PDF.

The Set Password screen has a checkbox to remember the username for future logins.

The various admissions reports now let you report on leads, applications, and inquiries with a blank lead source.

A new filter condition lets you find people with specific localizations on Contacts > People, the Data Slicer, and in the export helper.

Added localization context for Populi > Home, contact info types, and weekday abbreviations (e.g. Sat, Sun). If a word or phrase has a context hint a tooltip will be displayed in the localization editing interface.

Also added a built-in localization for Indonesian.

New API parameters let you update enrollment final_comment and final_attendance.

When test questions are shared across different catalog courses, we changed it so that faculty can't edit/delete them unless they also have edit permissions in the owner catalog course.

Made it so you can choose --/blank for the asset account for built-in aid award types.

Bugfixes

Fixed a few display issues with how grades are displayed for P/F assignments when the P/F grade scale has non-failing grades listed below a failing grade.

Closed a tiny loophole to further prevent accidentally duplicating charges when a recurring payment is run.

In some cases, an inactive student could charge a transcript request fee to his account even though that's not cool, not cool at all.

College Financing Plan award amounts were showing the actual award amount rather than the maximum possible award amount.

Videos and Focus Sessions
