February 4 to February 8, 2019 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Added the auto-calculation tables for 2019-2020 Pell Grants.

We fine-tuned a setting that permits students to create groups:

  • The setting now specifies whether students can create Public groups.
  • By default, students can create Private groups.
  • If you'd rather they didn't have that ability, we have a setting on our end that will change this for your school. Get aholt of Populi customer support if you'd like this changed.

Tasty new morsels in the API: getPaymentand getRefund.

The Enrollments report exports now let you include Roster notes. It also lets you filter for custom fields that have been left blank.

Bugfixes

Tin Can files could "get stuck while processing". That's all they told me. I don't know why they got "stuck while processing", but I can only guess it had something to do with the frigid temperatures we've been experiencing this week. That's the thing they don't tell you about web-based software: it really only works if it's between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Outside of that range, who knows what'll happen.

Students with availability exceptions for tests could see those tests even when they had unassigned points. The person that reported this lives near some mountains that can get, ahem, rather snowy this time of year.

In certain circumstances a lesson might not get marked Complete even after the student completed the last required assignment in that lesson (I'll let you in on something: those certain circumstances were probably weather-related).

Fee rules that check for enrollment in specific terms could get confused by the two different ways we display term names (f'rexample, 2018-2019: Winter vs Winter 2018-2019). Are you starting to see a pattern?

The Print Statement link on Profile > Financial > By Term didn't work on the Windows version of Firefox. At this point, I think we're all in on web-based software's dirty little frost-bitten secret. That, and weird stuff breaks on Windows all the time.
