July 14 to July 18, 2025 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Relationships have been rewritten. Not a lot of flashy new stuff to speak of, just a more sensible and, dare I say, robust data structure. Artifacts of the update appear in how you can no longer save an invalid relationship (e.g. you just enter a first name, which we used to not worry about) and how you can now export relationships from Data Slicer and other reports. And you can even export the number of relationships someone has from Contacts > People.

Our iOS and Android apps now have the Files tab.

Library has been given a new Reporting view with sub-reports for Resources, Copies, and Circulation. It promises to make lots of things easier to find—books marked Lost, say.

The Chart of Accounts has a new Import CSV button. You can use it to import CSVs, presumably of accounts that aren't already entered in Populi (that's all it's good for).

Ever run into a coupla organizations that seem like they have too much in common? Like, name, contact info, et. al.? Now you can merge them.

Some revisions to the payment page: we moved the payment plan options and made a number of small accessibility improvements.

The online reference submitted automation now lets you pick which reference form to trigger the automation.

When sending a campus notification, there's a new option to exclude online students from getting it.

When you delete a calendar event, you can now email attendees about the cancellation using a checkbox. Previously we made you go through some obscure rigamarole to accomplish that.

Financial Admins who love to get notifications about when application fees are paid online just got a little present in their notifications.

We got rid of the 18MB limit on application note attachments, in part because we forgot why it was ever there in the first place.

If all the courses a student can view on Profile > Registration are not available for online enrollment, then we don't even show them the Registration view any more.

Do you like exporting COD awards to XLS or CSV? Hopefully—you can do that now (if you don't like it, then just don't do it).

The People and Organizations reports in Contacts now have the new report checkboxes that they should've had awhile ago probably.

Bugfixes

An obscure timezone issue could sometimes make it impossible to log in to Populi for one hour when Daylight Savings Time was doing its leap-ahead/fall-behind thing.

The Auditor tag was fastening itself to students whose future registrations were all audits but present registrations were all enrolled. The temerity.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Focus Sessions on the way:

  • Introduction to Financial Aid: This one gets into financial aid settings, awards, packaging aid, disbursements, aid applications and so on. This will be most useful to Financial Aid and Financial Admin users. It's scheduled for July 22nd, 2025, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Populi: Here's one on setting up your Populi account, logging in, adding new users, login approvals, roles, search, basic reporting, Populi's global settings and so on. This will be most useful to Populi Account Administrator and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for July 24th, 2025, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

While looking around in the vaults for grandma's recipe box, this perennial favorite slid off the shelves and bonked Josh on the head: it's his brother, Gabe, talking about how students can take online tests. And it's a good reminder that admins and instructors alike can provide course orientation using Populi videos. (It also pairs beautifully with the test integrity video for students.)
