October 27 to October 31, 2025 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Here's a new beta feature you might like to try out: Course Market. This thing lets you sell courses through Bookstore, whether to existing students or to people outside your school. The article details its current workings, but since this is a beta feature, the article is in beta, too! If you're interested in trying Course Market (and giving us helpful feedback so we can build it out a bit more), contact Populi Support.

The Course > Assignments view now shows the student his average grade for each assignment group.

Billing > Current > Invoices has been fortified with a new action that allows for the bulk printing of invoices. You can elect to create ZIP files containing up to 200 invoices, or a bazillion ZIP files containing one invoice each (this second option can take awhile, so use it sparingly).

Re-jiggered soft credits so now deceased spouses aren't automatically soft-credited (with a toggle to let you soft-credit them anyway if that's your thing).

Assignment submission notifications now link a faculty member to the specific student submission they're being notified about (previously, we just sent them to the assignment page, which was dull).

Academic Admins can bulk-set profile privacy in Contacts > People.

Enrollment agreement layouts have been granted new variables for Emergency Contact Email and Relationship To Student.

The Integrations log, one of our most POPULAR features, now has a Webhook option in the Type filter.

Bugfixes

The ABHE "Historic entering class and completers" report was including transfer students that it said it wasn't including. We increased the truthiness of it by 100%.

Students with course locks had insult added to injury because Populi continued to notify them of conferences starting in their courses. The FOMO was severe according to the reports we got.

The character-counter for text messaging had a split soul that counted characters one way in the display and another way in the database, which could sometimes cause "too many characters to send that" errors under what appeared to be entirely false pretenses.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Enjoy yourself a nice Focus Session next week:

  • Introduction to Populi: Shake hands with this system you use to run your school. This one gets into setting up your Populi account, logging in, adding new users, login approvals, roles, search, basic reporting, Populi's global settings and so on. This will be most useful to Populi Account Administrator and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for November 4th, 2025, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Academics: Get acquainted with academic years, terms, programs, degrees, the course catalog, course instances, enrollment and so on. This will be most useful to Registrar and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for November 6th, 2025, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

Josh is back and he's ready to tell you about how to add exceptions to assignments.
