Data Transfer and Email Message Limits

Populi is introducing limits to the amount of data transfer and email messages included with your Populi subscription. Similar to file storage and text messaging (which already have limits), data transfer and email both represent fixed costs to us. Up until now, data transfer and email have been unlimited, meaning that some accounts incur significant charges on our behalf without any of the costs being passed on (like they are with file storage and text messaging).

Just like with file storage and text messaging, we will include amounts of data transfer and email in your Populi subscription, and additional data transfer and email will be available for a fee. Based on current usage, the included amounts are generous enough to cover how most of our customer use these items. Put another way, the vast majority of you will not need to pay any additional fees when these limits are implemented into billing on April 1, 2026 (or anytime soon thereafter).

So there won’t be any surprises, we’ve added a new page to the Account > Invoices/Payment section of Populi called Current Usage. It shows your school's Populi Account Administrators and Billing Contacts the current month’s usage of all metered items that may appear on your invoice (billable students, file storage, data transfers, text messages, and email).

You can get the basics on the new limits and overage fees on our pricing page and the nitty-gritty details in our Terms of Service. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact Populi Support.
