April 27 to May 1, 2026 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Tightened up our logic for transfer students so that things in Populi align more faithfully to what IPEDS calls a transfer student and a first-time student.

You can use Recipient_Populi_ID in an href link in email templates. This lets you do things like send someone a link to their own Populi profile.

Monkeyed with the Is tax-deductible setting for donations to allow more granular control over whether a donation is, in fact, tax-deductible.

Gave the Campaigns page in Donations pagination and sorting in case you're one of those elite schools with a lot of donations campaigns.

New built-in localization for Kazakh.

Gave the API calls for to-dos the ability to filter 'em.

The Export Helper, it was determined, needed a field for "All Organizations" (not just primary).

Discipline now lets you choose which transcript terms for which the discipline event will be displayed.

The mobile apps do a better job handling links from push notifications that link to content not supported by the apps (Bookstore receipts, f'rinstance).

Campus drop-downs on applications have a nice new Undecided option to handle those indecisive applicants (whose money is just as green as the decisive ones).

New variables dropping like rain in an April shower:

  • ID Cards got one for Title—the person's title at their primary contact organization.
  • Enrollment Verification Letters got one for Program Standing.

And library receipts get their own layout.

Bugfixes

We used to only allow you to include tiny pictures of puppies in emails. If you tried to include a large puppy picture, we would squish it. WE HAD TO STOP SQUISHING THE PUPPIES. Our bugfix addressed this, as well as other things our email was squishing.

If you edited a student's final attendance (say, from 89.5% to 90%) to help them get around the Failure for Non-Attendance threshold, they'd still show as Failing for Non-Attendance. WE HAD TO STOP FAILING THESE STUDENTS.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Why do I keep writing "Videos"? There's almost always just one. I'll probably keep doing it just to reassure you that these notes aren't written by some robot somewhere.

Aaaaanyway, Focus Sessions next week:

  • Introduction to Degree Audit: It's been three weeks and change since we offered this look at degree requirements, course groups, course mapping, exceptions, transcripts and so on. This will be most useful to Academic Admin and Registrar users. It's scheduled for May 5th, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Financial Aid: Get a look at aid settings, awards, packaging aid, disbursements, aid applications and so on. This will be most useful to Financial Aid and Financial Admin users. It's scheduled for May 7th, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

In this one, single video, Josh from Populi gets over the sniffles and tells you about the ID Photo Kiosk.
