Features & Improvements
Not sayin' nothing yet, but big announcement coming Monday, July 6th...
Term Types are the hot new thing. They're templates that define how academic terms are created in Populi. If your school more or less follows the same schedule every academic year (e.g. "We start mid-August, go till mid-December, take a month off, get rolling again mid-January and sign off mid-May"), these'll come in handy. Term Types let you establish start/end dates, add/drop deadlines, and what the term can be used for elsewhere in Populi.
When we released this, we took a look at your existing academic term structure and created term types based on what your school has been doing in past years. Please take a look at Academics > Settings > Term Types and review those—and make changes to your heart's content! Of course, if you have questions, we're standing by to help (well, after the three-day weekend).
Transcript Layouts have a new variable for discipline comments.
Donation funds can now be retired.
In applications, linked fields for education level now let you hide certain levels from applicants.
The assignment importer in courses lets you choose assignment groups now. It didn't used to!
You can now just post a file to a bulletin board comment; you used to have to also write something brilliant, inspired, and original in order to post something.
Direct Loans in financialaidville (that's what Financial > Financial Aid is now called) have allowances for pro-ration based on enrollment intensity.
You can now request attachments be sent with automation emails, and we can now fulfill those requests because of some stuff we just added.
You can also now request an automation triggered by a late assignment submission, which we can also now fulfill because of some other stuff we also just added.
The Reference field on refunds can now be edited provided that all of the following are true:
- You have the Financial Admin role.
- The transaction has not been voided or reversed.
- The transaction's posted date must be outside of the Financial Period Lock Date (if there is one).
- You send us a gift basket from Zabar's, Cabela's, Filson, or other select retailers.
Added support for SAML encrypted assertions and signed SAML requests from the Service Provider.
Bugfixes
Course evaluation notifications weren't notifying anyone on the last day of the course. They also weren't displaying after the course's end date or its finalization.
Made sure that assignment due dates on Home > Dashboard > Schedule and the main Calendar view respected any exceptions granted to the student.
The Export Diplomas action in the Data Slicer and elsewhere was exporting too many dang diplomas. We fixed it so that it respected whatever date filters were in place (e.g. "Degree Granted Date on or after May 20").
