September 21 to October 9, 2026 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Our shiftless, lazy documentarian was on vacation and didn't bring all his Populi stuff with him to the beach, so now here's three weeks' worth of release notes. There's a lot here, so if you just want to get to the Josh stuff, click here. Looks like the rest of the company was whatever the opposite of shiftless and lazy is...

One thing that sometimes happens when the documentarian is catching some rays on the seaside dunes is that developers will write stuff and publish it. That's usually a problem—English is not their first language. But in this case, it all worked out: you can't use vernacular American English to describe webhooks. So a developer is just the guy to write up documentation on Populi's webhooks.

They're always adding variables to layouts, aren't they?

  • Now there's one that lets you stick QR codes on student ID cards.
  • Invoice layouts got a shiny new variable for balance less pending aid.
  • They also got variables for student addresses.

Avery 5260 has been included as a default template in Library > Label Templates.

Email lets you add multiple files as attachments now (including for things like automations and form notifications).

Office-use-only fields on form responses were feeling left out of being printed, so we generously included an option for those in print layouts.

For file folders, we did a couple things. One, A user with read access to a folder can see the owner and who the folder has been shared with. Two, account admins can edit the owner of a shared folder if the owner has been deleted, is no longer a user, or is no longer active staff/faculty/advisor.

Course > Files has a new filter that lets you find course, lesson, or syllabus files in a jiffy.

The people importer in Contacts no longer requires your imported file to have columns for First and Last Name if there's a column for Populi ID.

If a student registers for a course, then realizes he wants to change the delivery method, he used to have to remove the course, save, re-add with the new delivery method, and save again. Now he can remove the course, re-add with the correct delivery method, and save.

The By Fund export in Donations now includes a column for your school's default currency.

The Charges/Credits export now includes a couple new columns that help you create an IIF file for Quickbooks: charge description and credit/invoice (whether a charge is associate with one or another).

API stuff:

  • Added the retake_status parameter to TransferCreditPrograms create/update API endpoints.
  • The API now lets you add LTI links to Course > Syllabus.
  • The CourseGroup object got a new parameter for academic_year_id.
  • And you can export application to PDF using GET /applications/(id)/export_pdf.

Also added more download types for Zoom recording files, letting you get the video, the audio, or even the transcript of a Zoom recording.

Also also added a general feedback field for Essay and File-type test questions.

When you export a file, the file name will now be set as the page title so the browser will display it before downloading.

The Clearinghouse export now has an override option for the “Weeks in Academic Year” value.

Meetings in the general attendance kiosk display are now sorted chronologically. Because they weren't before.

Our built-in enrollment verification letter got a facelift and a new hairdo.

Combined Addressee is now an exportable field in the donations report for the donor and the soft credit on the donation.

Added some filter conditions: Invoices has Payment Applied Date and Transactions has Invoice Status.

The Course Offerings export now has a column for course program.

Unlinked form responses can now display the preferred name of the respondent.

Bugfixes

Verifying email addresses could break if the address had capital letters in it. Sorted that out.

If Campus Store was disabled but certain required settings had been entered, there was a loophole that would let people place orders. Closed it!

Some of the default Z39 servers in Library needed to be removed and/or updated.

When you were adding a new test question things would scroll down and obscure the first field in the dialog.

Found a discrepancy between a student's cumulative GPA in a term and their SAP that overlapped with that term.

The final attendance event in the kiosk was being hidden from students sometimes.

If you were working the Data Slicer for long enough, the Reset button would lose its mojo and not reset everything.

Oopsie! We'd blocked the Registrar role from navigating to the views under Academics > Programs.

Exporting Course Groups to CSV wasn't working. Like, at all.

Financial Auditors couldn't see the PayFactory settings even though they were supposed to.

The More option in the Add Event dialog in course calendars broke.

Found a back button on the Home screen in the mobile apps that did nothing.

Percentage-based aid awards weren't percentaging correctly.

Email templates wouldn't let you paste stuff into them.

When adding a course to a term, you had options to add retired course evaluations to it.

The Has Donation From Appeal filter in the Donors report was chopping off some of the results because there were too many. It’s been changed to a searchbox to prevent that problem.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Focus Sessions for a blustery mid-October:

  • Introduction to Academics: Get a look at academic years, terms, programs, degrees, the course catalog, course instances, enrollment and so on. This will be most useful to Registrar and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for October 13th, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Admissions: Get a taste of application settings, designing your application, processing applications, managing leads and so on. This will be most useful to Admissions and Admissions Admin users. It's scheduled for October 15, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

Looks like Josh has been busy refreshing older student-focused videos with shots of the new interface. Here he is Josh-from-Populi'ing submitting course evaluations, reading your transcript, and course discussions.
