October 12 to October 16, 2026 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

We've updated and upgraded and upscaled and uppity-upped Campus Store emails. Now they're a kind of customizable automation which a Campus Store Admin can work with in Campus Store > Admin > Settings > Notifications. The built-ins are:

  • Online Order Placed
  • Point of Sale Order Placed
  • Order Ready for Pickup
  • Order Shipped
  • Order Voided
  • Tracking Number Added

Speaking of Campus Store, the customer-facing parts of it are now available in the mobile apps and a mobile-optimized version in mobile browsers.

The Pending Charges report has a new Import Charges button. It lets you import a CSV of fees from outside Populi. Full documentation is still forthcoming, so here's the skinny on what your import file must contain:

  • The populi_ID of the person.
  • Academic Term ID or Display Name.
  • The only item type allowed is Fee for now (we'd like to add other stuff in the future). Provide the fee's item_ID or the fee's name.
  • The amount field must contain a number.

We've graciously allowed you to change the primary course in a cross-listed course using the interface.

Updated the browser detection critter.

The degree levels in Populi are now aligned with IPEDS categories in all their subtlety and nuance.

The automatic email that goes to a donor donates via a donation page with the "Email Receipt" setting enabled has been converted to a built-in automation.

Show history on recurring payments and donations shows more events and is now accessible to the payer.

Course group requirements have new options to Count unused courses and Count unused transfer courses towards degree course requirements.

There's a new option for organization types to "Allow transfer credits". This'll come in handy when you have a custom organization type like "Seminary" from you need to accept transfer credits.

And there're new built-in organization types for Synagogue, Mosque, and House of Worship.

Exports of more than 250 schedules are now handled in the background—you'll get an email with a link to the download when it's ready.

2027-2028 ISIRs can now be imported.

HTML Layouts for Canadian Donation Receipts have new variables for donor_spouse, donor_salutation, and donor_addressee.

We recently changed email compose to always be an overlay, but not everyone absolutely loves this. So you now have a new personal setting to "Compose Email in new browser tab".

Fixed things up so it's possible to produce a transcript in which a student has no resident credits, only transfer credits.

Tuned up calendar exports to better handle Chinese characters.

Finally made it so you can properly retire a tuition schedule instead of going through the wretched process of finding everyone who ever had it, removing it from them, and then sunsetting the thing. Now you just change its status from Active to Retired.

Tweaked a few things so that matching questions play nicer with screen readers.

There's a new built-in Arabic localization.

On Library self-checkout, we added some provisions to help out in situations where the scanned barcode could refer to more than one person—the person checking out the resource can select who they are in such cases.

Added a filter for recurring payments to the Payment Deadlines report.

Bugfixes

Found a bug where if you manually entered a final course grade on the Final Grade & Attendance page it wouldn't also set a released final grade, which could show inconsistent data elsewhere in Populi.

Found some column-disrespecting display issues on tests and in Course Market that we taught some manners to.

One of the IPEDS preset exports was broken.

Notifications for iPhones registered after July 23, 2026 weren't working for some obscure reason that we've dealt with.

Videos and Focus Sessions

Focus Sessions comin' right up:

  • Introduction to Running Courses: Here's one that gets into course settings, lessons, assignments, discussions, tests, grading and so on. This will be most useful to Academic Admin, Faculty, and Teaching Assistant users. It's scheduled for October 20th, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Billing: A wholly different one on pending charges, invoices, transactions, payments/credits, tuition schedules, fees and so on. This will be most useful to Financial Admin and Student Billing users. It's scheduled for October 22nd, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

Josh wants to make sure that students know how to view their grades.
