October 26 to October 30, 2026 Release Notes

Features & Improvements

Numerous improvements to the student achievement data that feeds into the built-in TRACS report; the updates addressed issues with graduation cohorts, graduation rates, and retention rates. Kind of a bugfix, too, but I'm the sheriff 'round these parts, so this one gets to go here.

In other accreditation-body-with-a-built-in-report news, the ABHE report is now cognizant of superterms.

British Columbia has thrown in the towel on Daylight Savings Time, so now they get their own special timezone. We've added that timezone to Populi.

{!RECIPIENT_MIDDLENAME!} is a so-fresh-it-squeaks addition to the arsenal of email template variables.

Reporting for standardized tests lets you now include data on each attempt, the number of attempts, each attempt's score, and the color temperature of the lighting in the room where the attempt was attempted.

We're now letting Academic Admins get their grubby hands all over the LMS Sync settings in courses.

Bugfixes

In rare cases, payment plans could double-count a credit or deposit, using it as a payment towards the plan's charges and a payment towards its deadlines.

When creating a new fee, the Allow Zero checkbox would only appear if you flipped the fee type from Flat Rate to Per Credit and then back again.

Fixed a problem with your ability to find the T11A using Search. Then we fixed a broken Export button for the T4A. Canadian tax docs were feeling needy this week.

The Javascript in the iOS app ran into a problem where it was unable to parse a non-float version string. Ha! Classic Javascript, man. To translate that into something English-y: whatever the heck this error was doing, it was breaking the attendance beacon for a bunch of customers.

We used to let you add tuition charges with no item or bracket selected and then whistle off into the dark like nothing was wrong. WHEN, IN FACT, EVERYTHING WAS WRONG. No more whistling for you now: you have to pick a bracket or we give you an error message.

A number of tooltips around Populi, when you hovered over them for the obviously deeply important information they needed to convey, only said, and I quote, "blah". We did some kind of find-replace to deal with these. But I, for one, wish we hadn't fixed this. Most "information" just amounts to those four little letters anyway. The developers called this a "bug", but I like to think of it as a little dewdrop of truth.

Videos and Focus Sessions

November approaches, and so does the weekly pair of Focus Sessions:

  • Introduction to Populi: Learn about setting up your Populi account, logging in, adding new users, login approvals, roles, search, basic reporting, Populi's global settings and so on. This will be most useful to Populi Account Administrator and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for November 3rd, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.
  • Introduction to Academics: Add wrinkles to your brain in which are hidden facts about academic years, terms, programs, degrees, the course catalog, course instances, enrollment and so on. This will be most useful to Registrar and Academic Admin users. It's scheduled for November 5th, 2026, 11:00 AM Pacific time.

The title of this video would lead you to think that Josh is wondering how he can find his grades, but actually, it's about how students can find their grades.
