It would be great if we could provide custom, specific feedback for students that select the wrong choice on a multiple choice quiz question. For example, if they select 2+2 is 5, Populi could display a link to help with additional questions… Or a walk-through of how to solve the problem... or whatever other feedback the teacher wants to provide like, "try again" or whatever. Actually, this would be good for true and false too.

Adam Sentz Official comment We just added automated feedback to test questions.
-
Robert Frankel It would be helpful to have the option to add feedback for each answer choice in multiple choice or T/F type questions, that can be automatically displayed to students based on Feedback settings.
-
Greg Waddell I agree with Robert. This is especially important for T/F questions because, as it is now, if students give a wrong answer, they have no way of know why it was wrong.
Ideally they should get immediate feedback like:
"Well Done!" or "Good choice!" if they get it right.
And if they get it wrong, the course designer could add a note explaining why True is wrong or why False is wrong. -
Don Mitchell I agree that it would be helpful to be able to include in a Quiz/test, once it has been completed by the student, information and material that might explain why a particular answer was right or wrong. This speeds up the process for the student and reduces the amount of subsequent work for the teacher/professor.

Larry Griffin This is a great idea. It would definitely make grading easier and quicker.

Director Learning Yes, please add auto-feedback responses for all answers to be viewable by students.
-
Chris Brown We would also really like to have this auto-feedback option for tests. We're replacing Schoology with populi at our college - but I was very sorry to lose this feedback option. I'll attach a screenshot of how it functioned with schoology.

Adam Sentz Chris Brown - Thanks for sharing the info. This is on the list of things we want to add to tests for sure.

Lorna Lee Google Forms Quizzes DOES have this feature, which is very helpful for students. It creates instant feedback for powerful learning. My students really like the Google Forms quizzes but it would be much easier as a teacher to have those quizzes happen inside Populi.
Google Forms allows feedback for EITHER the correct OR the incorrect answers. Sometimes it would be useful to add feedback for both options.
Please add this feature to Populi.

Sung Woo I'd like to vote up for Chris Brown's request that we should have instant auto-feedback for T/F and multiple-choice questions. Let me say strongly that any modern LMS must provide the auto-feedback feature, in order for it to be used for any reasonable educational operations. It is a MUST.

Jerry Mahun Considering the first comment on this dates back more than 6 years and it still has not been implemented is ridiculous. I contacted support about this and their reply was "There isn't a way to design automatic test feedback in Populi currently. We're tracking a feature request for that kind of thing here:" and they listed a link to this thread. Tracking it for six years... Mr Senz replied in Aug 2021 that this was "on the list of things we want to add to tests for sure." And yet, not implemented.
Over the years I've worked with many Learning Management Systems and every one of them had the option to provide feedback on individual test questions. When I graded paper exams, I always wrote down comments on incorrectly answered questions. It's part of the learning process. Not providing the student constructive feedback, particularly in an online environment, contributes to their feeling isolated from the instructor and left on their own.
I'm sorry for ranting but learning is a loop and feedback is a critical element. How can you call Populi an LMS if it doesn't support that simple yet critical process?
-
Adam Sentz Jerry Mahun - You can provide feedback on individual test questions. Just click "Add comment" on the history view of the individual test, or when grading via the To Be Graded tab. If you need assistance locating this just reach out to Populi Support and they'll walk you through it.
If you'd like to know what we've been up to for the past six years feel free to peruse our Release Notes.

Dr. John W. Carter Adding individual feedback on objective question is prohibitively time-consuming. What is so hard about providing automated feedback on these questions. I know other LMSs that can do this.
-
Dr. John Doak We really need this option!
-
Nicholas Comninellis Regarding quiz results, please add the ability to include an explanation of the answers.

Greg Wiebe Recording my agreement with the above posts. This function would be super helpful!
