emailing studetns

I've seen other systems and would like the ability to email select students within a class section based on preset criteria.  For instance, I'd like to be able to email everyone who was absent on a specific day, rather than having to have to figure out who was absent and send them emails individually or the entire class.  Another example is everyone who has not turned in an assignment or who has not passed an assignment or test.  Clearly these would need to be sent BCC
