When I send an email through Mailchimp, I can see who has opened or clicked on an email (this is also a feature in Hubspot). This means I can target my follow-up to people that are more engaged with the information I'm sending them, and, typically, more interested in registering with us. I'd love to see this as a feature in Populi, too.

Adam Sentz Official comment In order to track email opens, email marketing platforms use something called tracking pixels. Tracking pixels (also known as Spy Pixels) are invisible, fake image URLs inserted into email content. The idea is that when an email is opened that image is requested and that request is logged. For privacy reasons, many email clients block/prevent this behavior. For example, Apple Mail caches all email images via multiple proxies causing false positive "reads" and sending de-identified tracking data back (e.g. the "read" location will be that of Apple's proxy server instead of the actual user's location, and, of course, they may never have even seen the email).
In short, there is no "read receipt" technology for email. Populi had tracking pixels years ago, but we removed it after many, many customer complaints about it "not working."

LeAnn Brown I would love to have this functionality in Populi as well. We hear of emails going to junk mail, so I often wonder whether or not our leads are receiving email communication from us.

Jeff Jaquith Please add this functionality! It's incredibly important for getting the feedback we need to ensure our students and prospects are receiving our communications. Thank you!

Kevin Risner I add my request for this as well. We NEED to know students have received messages. This is especially critical for NEW students who are just onboarding as students.

Pamala Hecker New to my position and, in order to simplify communication info in one location, what other options are there to confirm the person has read the info sent?

Adam Sentz Pamala Hecker - Even if you could reliably track "opens" you can't really know if someone read an email or not. As far as better methods for tracking email engagement goes, tracking clicks on links in an email is probably better, but doesn't really solve for "I need to know if this person read this email."
