"Initial Comment by" date in discussions

In the Graded Discussions or just in Discussions in general, it would be nice to have a "Initial Comment by" date as well as a due date. If we don't have a comment by date, then most students will wait until the last possible moment to make their initial post. This leaves the students who did their first post timely, having to wait for others to respond in order to do their Replies by the "Due Date".

For example my discussions are set to be open from Sunday to Saturday. I would like to set a grading option or just an option to have their initial post be due on Wednesday. This gives the class opportunity for discussion, instead of just last minute comments on the "Due date".

  @Michele - If you want people to post by Wednesday, I'd recommend setting the Due Date to that date, and setting the Comments Close date to when you want it to close on Saturday.

  I have reset these, but the problem with this is that it then shows all replies as "late".  So they all try to comment and reply by the due date.  Everyone comments and replies on the Due date.  This doesn't make for a great discussion.
