Inactive Student Role Trigger Cancellation of LOA System Tag

The support page for exits and leaves says "If you inactivate the Student role, the exit date/reason data will over-ride the LOA information." but it doesn't trigger cancellation of the LOA system tag. Would it be possible for this to occur?
