I still think it would be incredibly useful to have a duplicate assignment option.

Phillip Marshall I agree and add my request for this feature. It's hard to believe there's not an easy way to duplicate assignments. I had about 20 textbook HW assignments to create for my assignments/gradebook, and the format of all of them was the same except for the number of the lesson.

Adam Sentz Phillip Marshall - I agree that this would be handy, especially in initial course set up. Once all your courses are established you will probably create most assignments via cloning so it's less of a chore. I think that's why we haven't had a lot of requests for it. Still, I think it'd be nice to be able to make a new assignment using an existing assignment as a template so this is definitely on the list of things it would be nice to add when we have time.

Simran Khalsa I am doing data entry right now for an (not in the previous course instances) assignment that is duplicated every week except for the date. Being able to make it once for each class then just duplicate it and change the date would be extremely useful. Specifically to be able to duplicated assignments from within the same course. I can see how being able to clone a single assignment between courses would be overly technical to implement (because of reconciling assignment groups which must add up to 100% weight), but i hope that cloning assignments within a course (which would already feed into an existing assignment group) will someday be available.

Micah Forsythe I am relatively new to Populi and I have to say, not having this function is baffling! We just migrated from a far less robust LMS, but it had an assignment duplicate function which was a huge time saver when it came to class set up. Get that there is a course duplication feature with Populi, and I am extremely thankful for that, but it would be extremely helpful to have an assignment duplication. It would also be helpful if the assignment duplication was not course dependent. In other words, I teach a series of classes that have the same basic assignments. If I could duplicate an assignment from one class for use in another class, this would save me even more time. Please Add this feature to Populi!

Simran Khalsa As a follow up, another option to get to the equivalent functionality between multiple classes might be to systematize assignments like rubrics are, have a "global" assignment (class participation, with applicable global rubric already in place) and "global" assignment groups (participation), or assignment group clusters with percentages already balanced (participation 15%, online assignments 20%, presentations 35%, final 30%) that could be applied to the class instance, and then modified there if needed, transforming it into a localized instance. This would help greatly with consistent terminology (without having to double check) for assignments and assignment groups that are used in nearly every class and have to be built into at least the first class instance. Especially for special topic classes that are only taught once, some functionality like this would be golden.
