It would be great if there was a way to restrict a student's ability to make a payment on their account if they haven't been invoiced for anything or if there is not a balance due on their account. We currently have some students who make advanced payments on their account (even though we have asked them not to) toward future semesters. This causes issues for our accounting, especially when the payments are made toward a semester that is in a different calendar year, and it also causes issues if that student later withdraws and we then have to process a return of funds that they shouldn't have paid in the first place. It costs us extra time and money.

Toby Robinson Official comment There is now a setting in Financial -> Online Payments to prevent students with no balance from making payments.
