I would like to remove the ability for instructors to mark students excused, so that their only options would be Present, Absent, or Tardy. The ability to mark a student excused would then be reserved for Academic Admins only.

Christopher Sumpter While I'm not opposed to offering that as an optional setting, that would not work for our institution. Instructors are the ones who excuse student absences at our institution.

Adam Sentz Michael Venzor - It's not currently possible to restrict excused absences to Academic Admins, but you can disable them completely on Academics > Settings > Grades & Attendance.

Michael Venzor Thanks Christopher, I meant the request to be optional. It would be great to be able to choose if teachers have the ability to mark excused. Our process is that students are marked absent by teachers and then submit a request to the registrar to be excused after the fact. It removes the burden on teachers to decide whether or not an excuse is valid. Plus, it allows for all medical documentation and other proof to be stored in one place.

Melissa Wilcox We would like this as option too. Typically our faculty is not to mark students excused, it must be approved by administration first.

Christopher, I hope you'll consider also upvoting this request (or at least removing your downvote) based on the agreement that the feature would be optional for all schools.
Thanks!
