We need a place to house learning accommodations for our students with learning disabilities. I saw in a Populi post that someone recommended tagging the students and adding a roster note. We already post a master list of accommodations in shared files each semester. So, for now this is what we are going to do. It would be nice for the accommodation coordinator to be able to enter the accommodation in one location and the teacher be able to access it in their roster.

Dani Weiss I definitely second this. It could go right above the "add Disciplinary Action" section.

Rhonda Friesen I agree with the need to refine Populi's capabilities for tracking approved academic accommodations for students who are registered with Accessibility Services. Approved accommodations need to be visible to course instructors, with appropriate alerts on the relevant students. It would be best if Populi can help instructors see and understand the required accommodations they will need to make in a way that is quick, intuitive and efficient. Having a tag with link to approved accommodations in the course roster list seems most effective to me.

Evan Donovan I saw that https://support.populiweb.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360048841793-Field-to-Track-Medica-Academic-Accommodation was marked as a duplicate of this.
For anyone who is coming from that one, here's how our school handles this:
1) We have a tag called "ADA" that we can use on Data Slicer.
2) We also have a tag called "ADA Pending" that we use for students who need to get us documentation yet.
Meanwhile, we have created a custom field for admin staff viewing that is a file upload field for the actual ADA documentation.
We also have assigned some of our staff as Advisors for many of these students, and we email professors each term a list of students with accommodations and what those accommodations are, if applicable.
I agree that having it show on the Roster would be good too, so faculty could see it for themselves directly. Perhaps there could be a way to expose tags to the Roster? I could see other use cases for that.
It's also possible, I believe, to add notes to a course Roster, but then a staff member would have to copy those notes from the master student record into the course Roster each term, which is inefficient. -
Stephanie Penner This is very helpful and I would also like to voice my support for adding more capacity for Accommodations and Disability fields. It's too bad there has been no movement on this. I am currently building Populi for our institution and was wondering how Accommodations were handled. Our previous system did not have capacity to add it and we have been working in separate spreadsheets.
Thanks to Evan for the helpful suggestion on using the tags and custom fields.I was also thinking of adding a "Checkbox" custom field with a list of accommodations a student can receive. Has anyone else done this or would recommend a different course of action?
