Right now most assignments allow for rubrics, but tests to not. For our institution, we NEED to use rubrics for all assignments, including tests. It would help us greatly if that option was available. I understand that most people wouldn't use them for tests, but I imagine this would be a very simple change to make that wouldn't cause problems for anyone who doesn't use them.

This is how I responded on that thread in 2021:
You can already attach a rubric to grade an Essay question. Short answer questions are designed to be exact matches of a word or phrase so they can be graded automatically. You can even set up partial credit for common misspellings or answers that are close, but not exactly correct. You can't attach one to the test itself because Essay is the only question type that is gradable by rubric.
We're foggy on how one would use a rubric to describe a grade at the assignment level when that grade is already described by a students performance on test questions. Can you explain how you envision that working?

Kristi Smith I don't know about the OP's situation, but I have the same request. I'd like to add a rubric to a specific test question. We have a test that is 15 multiple choice questions, 5 short answer, and one essay question. I want to use a rubric to grade the essay question. I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Adam Sentz Kristi Smith - You can grade Essay questions with a rubric. Just choose the rubric you want when editing the question. If the option doesn't show up you don't have any published rubrics available to choose from. If you'd like Populi Support to take a look you can reach out to them here.
