Filtering on organizations' "members" by active student (data slice)

We currently have student's church affiliations as non primary organizations on the info tab.  If they are "primary" then the info shows at the top of the record with the degree, which is giving it too much primacy.

I am looking for ways to report on Active students from various churches but can seem to get at that info.  From Contacts/Organizations it shows all people connected with that organization.  Currently from data slicer, I can only see "primary" organizations (and start/end dates) .

Could we filter active students from organization member lists?  or likely more powerfully, include non primary organizations (by type so not to confuse the transfer colleges) in the data slice?

  Jeremy,

  You may have already figured this out, but in Contacts/Organizations, you can filter for "Type" is "Church" (if you have all such organizations categorized correctly), and then select "Export > Members" and include the fields "Student ID" and "Student Role Status." Then in Excel you can filter for Student Role Status = Active. That should get you pretty close, though you'll want to watch out for students with multiple church membership records. Having the Student ID in the export will help if you need to use VLOOKUP formulas to cross-reference with the data slicer.
