We would like to be able to enter the numerical value for pass/fail grades, so that it doesn't default to the highest/lowest possible percentage. This creates transparency to the students and accreditors to show that our pass/fail grades still have a quantitative evaluation, and we just have a simplified letter grade system.
For example, pass/fail tests administered in Populi show the actual percentage of correct answers, and Populi just assigns the Pass/Fail letter grade for that percentage as it corresponds with the global grade scale. This would be great if it was possible for any assignment type.
With manually entered grades, we don't have the option to specify a percentage or number of points, and Populi will only default to the maximum Pass points or the minimum Fail points.
For assignments that really don't have a quantitative evaluation, we just make the assignment worth 1 point, since in that case it is fine that it defaults to the maximum or minimum possible points.
