We need the ability to split our students into small groups for discussions which are private for that group of students but also will work with the grading so that students are not required to post to the other groups. At present everyone in the class has to do the same activities for grading purposes.

Andrew Gabriel In the past I have set up groups and assign them (in person) to a group discussion on Populi. On Populi, I name discussions (for example), "Group 1- Discussion of Bob," "Group 2- Discussion of Bob." Students then know which discussions they need to be a part of on Populi. It would still be nice, though, to assign them to discussions on Populi, and to have them private from students who are in other groups.

Daniel Moore Adding my voice and support to this discussion. This would be very beneficial, particularly for distant learning programs at our school, where we often have need to separate larger student rosters into multiple, smaller discussion groups. In other platforms, I'm accustomed to being able to manage group membership by adding only certain users to a group.
