Option to block payments in populi

We are now using a 3rd party for payment plan management and payment collection called FACTS (it's a product of Nelnet.) We need to be able to prevent students with approved FACTS payment plans from making payments directly to Populi. 

Is there any way possible you can make this work? Or do you have other suggestions?

  Shelby, a couple or three thoughts:

  1. We don't have a way to block particular people from making payments in Populi. If their tuition, payment arrangements, and payment processing are being managed through FACTS, then if you just make sure they don't have a balance in Populi, there won't be anything for them to pay in Populi. I think it'll just come down to keeping an eye on things on your end. 
  2. If you tag these students, you can easily send them periodic reminders to pay through Nelnet instead of Populi.
  3. We're working on upgrading the payment plans in Populi. There's no firm timeline, but they're getting a total overhaul. Perhaps they'll let you handle these other students in Populi... what things are you looking for with payment plans?

  We originally removed the balances from Populi. However, that was not the right approach. It created other issues :)  Populi will still house the financial record; FACTS will handle the payments. We want to maintain the financial record in Populi.We are in the process of putting the charges back in Populi now.

   

  I will get with our Business Office and get a list of the benefits that pushed us to use FACTS, so hopefully, Populi can accommodate our payment plan/collection needs in the future.
