Is there a way that the default visibility for new notes can be changed to "Staff" instead of "Private". Right it seems too easy for one of us to add a new note and save it without setting the visibility to a level where enough people can see it.
Hi! When do you think the default feature for visibility will be created. The admissions department adds notes everyday on prospective students that certain people at school need to have access to and it is very frustrating for them to choose the visibility every time they write a note. Could you please let me know when this is going to take place? Thanks!

Related: Is there a way to build default visibilities into individual communication plans as well? For instance, we've built communication plans notifying students of confidential financial aid information that can only be visible to certain staff groups.
Hi Nathan, sorry I missed your question earlier. I think visibility options on Communication Plans is a good idea (both who can use them and see them). I'm not sure if there are any technical limitations, but I would recommend entering a separate feature request on that idea to get other user's feedback as well.

I recant! After a semester's worth of a work, I realize that having "Private" as the default visibility for notes is really the best option after all.
Joel, I'm glad to hear you recant... it's driving me crazy to have to go back over everything I do in students files to keep financial aid communications appropriately private (is that even a term). Staff is not the best default (in my opinion). Allowing individual users to set their own default would be GREAT!

For me, the best default would be registrar, but that's, of course, because most of what I post (being the registrar) is for staff with registrar roles.
Ability to set one's own default would be amazing!

I would like to add one note to everything above. This default setting would be nice to have with any type of communication. For example, when I email a student from their account, I'd love to be able to set the default visibility for that as well. Pretty much I'd love to set the same default visibility for absolutely everything that ends up in the activity feed.
And with that, would also come the desire to be able to get more specific with visibility options when sending an email... right now those options are just "Private" or "Staff"... so I can't even set the visibility for "Registrar" unless I go to the Activity Feed.
Is this request too far off the original? Let me know if I should submit a separate request, or attach this rather to Nathan's Communication Plan request.

@Pamela - It's under your personal settings which you can get to by clicking the gear icon at the very top right next to "Help".
Awesome! Yes, indeed it is there. We were looking at the settings for the Admissions and Academic areas. Having it set per user is even better!
