We could use a way to define a relationship as an emergency contact.

  Hi Donna, thanks for the idea! We'll definitely keep that in mind for future release!

  Have you all been able to come up with a temporary workaround? You could create a Custom Info Field that shows up on the student Profile called Emergency Contact Name and Emergency Contact Number and store the information there. That might at least work for the time being! Thanks again!

  I would like to add to this feature request that we would like to be able to access this information from the iPhone app. We are implementing a custom info field for emergency contact this year, but we would like to be able to get this info on the run.

  I'll chime in and say that it would be great to add custom contact types. Rather than be limited to Home, Work, School, Billing, Shipping or Other, it would be nice to have the ability to define our own contact types.

  This limitation is one of the main things that would prevent us from moving from Raiser's Edge to Populi for alumni tracking if Populi were to ever beef up the alumni side.

  You can now specify an emergency contact for a person under Relationships.
