Several of my coworkers need to be able to see academic and financial information without having the ability to make changes. Could you add this read-only permission?

Sam Dean Any news? Would really benefit from this feature.
-
Sue Lamphere As a work around we decided to use "teaching assistant" for some staff members who didn't need to change things or see certain things. More flexibility on permissions would be great. We have a lot of staff that were students, so them being able to see each others private information is kind of sticky.

Jorge Ojeda I would like to an Academic Auditor-type role. That would be great!
-
Clarence Burke I second the need for read and /or auditor roles.

Sam Horowitz This is a great start (and I'm going to move a bunch of API stuff over to this role). I hope that the underlying code revisions that brought about this kind of flexibility mean there will be more options in the future? For example, there's still no way to let a staff member view even what degree program a student is in, or what courses s/he's attempted, without giving access to grades.

Joel Wingo This is a big step and a great improvement. Thank you for accomplishing this!
-
Josiah Stephan @Adam It would be ideal if the Academic Auditor could still email particular classes and sections.
-
Adam Sentz @Josiah - They should be able to email students from inside a course. Wanna open a support request and let us know what's going on so we can check it out?

Mark Millhone Let me add to this thread in hopes that our voices can be heard.
We would like to have our Program Directors have view only access to what a registrar can see/edit. We have a large number of adjuncts and this kind of access will allow our Program Directors to quickly see whether or not our far-flung faculty is staying current with grading. There is a work around that we've developed in house but it requires the program directors to go student by student in a time-consuming manner vs. getting a quick snapshot of the total gradebook.
-
Nancy Butler We also could still use a "read only" role for student tab. Access to student schedules is helpful to staff.
-
Toby Robinson @Mark
We are adding assignments, discussions, and gradebook to the academic auditor role.
@Nancy
Academic auditors have access to the student tab but are not limited to it. If the goal is to make schedules more available to staff then a new feature request might be best. Thanks!

David Mize In addition to the academic side of things, has there been thought on adding some different roles to admissions? Say someone who can see Lead Info, but not see an application?
-
Suzanne Huffman We would like our Admissions Admin to be able to see Financial Info. I put the Admissions Application Fee on an applicant's record and then show when they've paid. At this time, she can't see that and has to email the Business Office to ask if they've paid.

Rob McGhee The comments for this request go back to 2010. It is marked as Planned. Any time frame? I am sure many others need this functionality but have not up voted since it shows as planned. Last comment is from 2017.
-
Adam Sentz @Rob - We added the Academic Auditor role in 2015, but the request was for read-only permissions to academics and financial so it's still marked Planned. Probably should have split those into two requests. Live and learn.
In order to implement read-only permissions in financial we need to rewrite the entirety of the financial section in to our newer framework, and that is a lengthy process.
For what it's worth, the vast majority of upvotes on the topic we made after it was marked Planned.

Cheryl McLim Are we any closer to having a Financial Auditor role?
-
Adam Sentz Cheryl McLim - Yes!
-
Chad Egresi As many others have noted here (and in other posts) - this access would help better facilitate financial audits as as well as onsite and remote accreditation reviews. Looks like this is still on the long haul list.

Nancy Butler Agree!

Jeffrey Smith I second the comment above from 4 years ago... Any progress on a watered down admissions role? Summer staff, student workers, assistants who just help enter / manage / follow-up on leads is on example of the ideal candidate for this role. Thanks!
