Have a "Discussion" button under "Online Learning" for a course, instead of in the "Lessons" section.

This way discussion don't have to be linked to particular lessons and students can get to the discussions more quickly.

  This would be great, thought I think it would be good to have it in both places.  The link under "Online Learning" could display all discussions not in a particular lesson as well as a list (separated by lesson) with all of the discussions linked with particular lessons.

  I support having Discussions available in both places: where they are now, as well as a separate link under the Online Learning area.

  I like the idea of having a course-wide discussion board where the instructor can ask questions and have the students respond in one thread.  As it is, I have to pose my questions in the lesson and depend on the student to create their own discussion.
