We would love to have the ability to add a start/stop date for addresses. For example, a student can put in a summer address that is active only from May 1 to August 31. Or if someone is moving and they know their address will become inactive at a certain date.

Adam Sentz We've talked about this kind of thing before, but it always seems a lot more complicated than just letting users update their own contact info whenever they need to, like you can in Populi now.

Jeremiah Miller The main issue for us is to have a record of whether an address is still valid or not. At the very least it would be helpful to have a record of when the address was added or modified. We love the fact that users can update their own addresses, though.

Adam Sentz All changes to contact info are logged in the Activity Feed of each profile. You can see them by selecting "Changes" from the "Show" select box. You can also mark addresses as "old" instead of deleting them when you know they are no longer valid to prevent errors in the future.

Jeremiah Miller Ok, I see what you're saying. It's not my first choice but in the interest of keeping feature-bloat low, I suppose it works.

Jeremiah Miller I would like to add that although your workaround is OK for now, the lack of address to/from dates would be a major obstacle to us using Populi for full-fledged alumni tracking. We currently use Raiser's Edge and the ability to have flexibility with addresses is a very important feature.

Lauren Finlayson To add to Jeremiah here, I would like this feature for another purpose.
We receive verification requests from the Military which asks us to confirm/deny the specific dates a student lived at a certain residence.
I can go into the Activity Feed and sort through all of the information. But that is a lot of work and it would be easy to miss information.
I would like to request that the change dates be listed on the address itself, so we can see this when we click on "see old".

Adam Sentz @Lauren - That actually sounds like somewhat different functionality than this request describes. More "She lived here from March 2015 until September 2017" as opposed to "He lives at address A May-August and address B September-April." So you'd want to be able to track those dates, and easily report on them I imagine.

Lauren Finlayson @adam thanks for clarifying for me.
I will put in another feature request then.
