A notification system is needed to show when there is a room/schedule conflict. Thank you.

Kerry Pretty In the short term, adding the Room Allocation to the information displayed on the course schedule would be a great help.
Both room and teacher conflicts checking would be great to have.
Allowing conflicts to be resolved by changing the room for a course on a specific date such that a course would be in room A for all but one week of the semester when it was allocated to room B.
Having two rooms combined to be one room would be great as well. If you consider a room to be an object in your programming (assuming OOD software – which designs the data), then you could have a simple object and complex type of room object where the complex object is made up of a list of two or more simple objects. This would probably be ideal so that one course could reserve more than one room or a single event could reserve all the rooms. The complex object could then be assigned as an attribute of the course object. I think that the main area of issue for this feature would be conflict identification, conflict resolution, and displaying the information for courses.
If the complex room object could be specified/created by the user/role (i.e. Academic Admins, Staff), this would be ideal.
A final thought would be that it would be good if the room scheduler could complete the scheduling process before having to resolve any identified conflicts. Having a window pop-up with a running list of identified conflicts with conflict type, teachers, courses, date, time, and room(s) would be a great help as well to resolve the issues. It could also be used a check before finalizing a semester schedule.

John Miller Can we tag a faculty scheduling conflict alert along with this too? It would be nice to know when we attempt to make a teacher teach in two places at once.

Sam Dean Home page alert of scheduling errors (students in two places at the same time, professors also double scheduled). This would be similar to the application pending feature. When I logged in I would see the issues I still needed to correct prior to the upcoming semester.
Add an error from changing course times that cause errors - now this creates no notification.

Nancy Butler We need the scheduling conflict alert also. It's a major manual process to lay out the schedule with no notification on Populi if we missed something with either classroom or faculty member.

Dr. Beemer Wholeheartedly agree with this. As a new user I found it difficult to even be able to check room assignments for courses without having to export the entire schedule and sort by location. Would love to see a feature where I could pull up a classroom and see what is scheduled in there. Additionally being able to see what rooms are free for a certain period would be helpful when placing classes.

John Kim I would also like to request this feature.

Sue Lamphere I never got a notification about a room conflict - if this feature is still in place how does it work? I inadvertently scheduled two classes for the same room at the same time... luckily I caught it. Notification would be great!

Mark E. Sullivan Another request for a schedule by classroom to avoid duplicating outside of a system that already holds this information.

Arlene Moe The facilities schedule is very helpful when looking for conflicts with classroom space. A feature that did the same for teachers would be ideal (or perhaps a combination of the two).

Mary Maritz I Totally agree with it will be very helpful if we had this in populi as we are growing and need to be able to see which teacher, classroom and times of availability to avoid conflicts.
