Need for direct student feedback on graded assignments

Greetings,

My faculty and I are finding that apparently the only way to provide students with feedback on their assignments is to email them directly. This is cumbersome and requires extra steps. Currently, Populi has a great feature that can be used when grading assignments -- the "notes" option. However, students cannot see this. Why not allow those notes to be sent either directly to the student via email, OR sent directly to the student's profile (only privately)? My instructors really like to provide their students with feedback on their assignments and view it as critical to the student learning process, however with larger classes, or multiple classes, the current method can be prohibitively time consuming.

  Allowing assignment notes to be seen by the individual student is a must... would really like to see this feature added.

  I agree. But please add notes that can be seen by the individual student while keeping the notes that are not. I want notes that the individual student can see, perhaps labeled "Notes to Students" as well as notes that can only be see by faculty and teaching assistants. Some courses have multiple teachers and markers so making notes that are for faculty only is useful.

  A comments box that is directly linked to the assignment being graded which can only be seen by the student is a must have function for online submissions. Please Please add this feature. Having to email each student individually is very cumbersome especially when you are grading 70+ assignments. I also agree with Scott that it would be nice if Populi can email the student letting them know they have feedback on an assignment.

  You can now leave students feedback on any assignment type.
