If the plan is for Populi to be used as a single application for all needs, especially accounting, then there should be some standard reports or a report development feature. At this point there is a lack of reports which are helpful or necessary for reconciling Populi as a sub ledger.

Brendan O'Donnell Robert,
Populi Financial is stuffed full of reports. I mean, besides basic settings/setup, the whole thing is a series of reports. Is there something in particular you're looking for?

Robert Combs How do I get an aging report for student receivables? They may be a series of reports, but they are not any format. It feels more like I am searching through data. What about an Income Statement, Balance Sheet or any other type of standard report? Does Populi expect Institutions to export their data and build reports from scratch? There is no way I would consider using Populi as our accounting software.

Brendan O'Donnell Robert,
We're building an aging report and it should be released in the near future. That's an important A/R item...
As for the other things you bring up, Populi isn't designed to replace a full-on accounting package. Populi manages your student billing and the accounting needs related to your Accounts Receivable/General Fund. We have a lot of very experienced bursars, comptrollers, and accountants using it as it is designed—alongside a general dedicated accounting package—quite successfully). If you would, give it a try, and if there's something more specific within its stated design purpose (handling accounts receivable, billing, etc.), we'd love to hear about it.
Get started with Populi Financial here, and of course feel free to send in support requests if you need help getting started.
thanks!

Carlos Marin When could we expect seeing the A/R and Aging Reports in Populi. Our college policy forces a student to be withdrawn from classes if they are 30 days late on any one scheduled payment on their payment plan. At this time, we have no way of pulling a list or report that would show students that are late and the balance on a particular scheduled payment. For example: students were to pay their September payment by September 20th, if they don't pay it by October 20th, they would be in danger of being withdrawn. Having an aging report may help us get some data to work with.
Thanks!

Dawn Dirksen I applaud the efforts to develop some standard type reports like AR/Aging reports; much needed. One consideration I would also suggest is giving some options for output; 1)combine all unpaid invoice balances for a summary type report that also notes date of last payment made, amount of that payment, any pending aid, etc. 2)a more detailed type showing balances for all unpaid invoices, date and amount of payments made, maybe type of payment (is the payment an aid payment or is it a customer payment).
Most importantly, include one or more column totals at the bottom of the report; i.e. how much total is 1-30 outstanding, how much is 31-60, etc and then a total of all outstanding payments for the defined period of time.
Thank you!!

Isaac Grauke Thanks Robert, Carlos and Dawn. These are great ideas and we will definitely keep them in mind for future updates.

Robin Lewis These would be great...

Mike Krauss Our issue with A/R reporting is looking back at a specific period of time. For example, if we wanted to assess all unpaid invoices as of 6/30/11 from the 10-11 year, and I was running the report on 9/1/11, it would only show unpaid invoices billed during that time that are still unpaid. If the student paid between 7/1/11-8/31/11, the invoice would no longer appear in the report when ran on 9/1/11. Forgive my non-accountant speak, but does this make sense?
