Even though we routinely use the same grading scale, there are two courses in our curriculum which use a different one. It would be nice to have the ability to have course by course grading scales as opposed to each term having to have the same grading scale. Thank you.

Adam Sentz We've discussed this at length, and we've never been able to think of a way to implement it and still have a transcript that makes sense. We do have some changes coming that might help. You will be able to set grade scales at the program level - so you could, perhaps, put those two courses in their own program and set a different grade scale that way.

Katie Olson My son's courses use Canvas and PowerSchool, both allow a 4 point grading scale. There is a lot of research on the benefits of a 4 point scale. It would be a nice option on Populi

Adam Sentz @Katie - Populi's grade scales are customizable enough to do a four-point grade scale, but it would have to be at the institutional or program level as opposed to the course level.

Dana Schmitz Adam-Since this was a very old topic that I posted, just thought I would throw out our solution, in case anyone else has a similar situation. At the end of the semester, I simply change the final grade to the letter it would be in the "alternate" grading scale and put a comment on the final grade page for each student indicating what the number grade was before I changed it. For example if the student earned a 90% in this "odd" course, it will show up as a B because of our normal grading scale. I just make a comment "90% in the comment section, change the letter grade to an "A", which is what a 90% is in this odd course, which in turn changes the number grade to 93 (our normal lowest A). This way the original score is still documented. And of course, the syllabus attached to the course indicates the grading scale used.
