We use the Shared Folder in files to provide students with College forms. We would like to be able to organise these files into subfolders e.g files for admissions willl go into the admissions folder etc...

Patti Ashby We would like to share a group of documents as subfolders for faculty (i.e. faculty meeting minutes), forms for students, and other pertinent campus-wide information. When it all comes as a straight list the list gets too long.

Deborah Forteza Agreed!
-
Mark Braisher Otherwise the file feature quickly becomes useless. If you want this feature to be helpful, allow subfolders. -
Mark Braisher this is still an issue. Anyone else see the benefit of this?
-
Christal Fehr As our list of files grows, so does the benefit of having sub-folders.
-
Mary Neel Sub folders would be a BIG help for us!
-
Gene Reid If Sub-folder option is not viable, then perhaps you can create additional Shared Folders that can be named by the local user.
-
Ann Rill We have just switched over to Populi, and as I prepare to train our faculty, one of the biggest frustrations I can already see is the lack of subfolders. Most faculty teach multiple courses, each of which will have multiple files. As I began importing my own files, I realized that I would have a list of over 130 folders to scroll through each time I wish to access a document - hardly efficient. It would be great if the use of subfolders could be implemented.

Wayne Scott Grouping uploaded files for access by students provides them with quick and easy access to documents relevant to a particular topic. Please consider adding this feature to the course INFO tab Files section.
-
Dave Thomas Why aren't there subfolders yet? This seems pretty vital and in keeping with much of what makes Populi so effective in other areas.
-
Adam Sentz @Dave - I know I'm a few months late, but to answer your question: because of the hundreds of other things we've been busy doing.
Bottom line is this: files in Populi has massive room for improvement, and that's definitely something we plan to address. Marking this Planned.

Daniel Peterson @Adam and @Populi - Thanks for all of the work and updates. I would like to add my voice to subfolders. Shared files is a definite must but I would also like to have the option of folders on the info tab of individual classes. If you have a large number of handouts it can get messy very quickly under the files section. I know you can always zip files and upload them but my preference is to allow students to just access the file they need at the time and folders would be a big help.

Becca Catlin Sub folders would be very helpful as would the ability to upload files >34 MB. I would like the ability to upload large files.
-
Tom Johnson This would be very helpful in keeping course instructions orderly and students well informed.
-
Terry Alexander I agree and having the ability to create additional shared folders would be really helpful. To access a file in the shared folder is cumbersome; you have to read all the files to get to the file you need. There isn't a mechanism to search through the files either.
-
Dr. Danuta Twardowska-Case I agree! The option of having subfolders within the shared folder is very important!

VUOM OFFICE We have a situation where faculty development files are needed to be shared with our Academic Dean. Please allow folders to be share-capable. Thank you!
-
Allan Crowson Glad to see this is planned. It's a great idea.
-
Vahe Petrossian What is the status of this feature? Is there a timeline when this feature may get implemented?
-
Adam Sentz @Vahe - This feature is marked Planned. We don't have any public timeline as to when it will be implemented, but it's a high priority for us to get Files up to scratch.
-
Ute Delaney I would like to add a feature for the Shared Files: make them read only. Currently it looks like anyone can delete a shared file. This is not so good for technologically challenged people - and we got quite a share of those.
-
Christopher Dickerson Yes please!!!
-
Amanda Boyd Yes please!!!
-
Joseph Wallis Me too. Yes Joseph Wallis Carolina College Of Biblical Studies -
Ran Dolinger I had the same issue with e360. I think in terms of subfolders for organizing materials. -
Donna Harrington This has been "Planned" since 2010... We need subfolders PLEASE
-
Adam Sentz @Donna - I actually marked this Planned in January 2014. I'm sorry that we still haven't had a chance to address this, but we do still plan to bring Files up to date.
-
Donna Harrington Thank you. This will go a long way toward stimulating faculty buy-in.
-
Jacob Moya Glad this is planned.

Susan Carlino Please add subfolders to the shared files section!
