Request having more than 1 layer of response in discussions; ie, being able to respond to a response, and to a response of a response, etc.

Toby Robinson Official comment You can now reply to a reply.
-
Leona Dorothy Agreed. The discussions can get cumbersome to follow when they get long and you can only go one response deep.

Our faculty and students are requesting this feature. The discussions are lively in most classes, and it is difficult for our users to keep track of where a discussion comment, or the context of the comment, belongs. It is causing high cognitive load and split-attention effect.

Prof. Patrick Madrid Yes, please add this feature. It would be a significant improvement to have threads within a discussion (e.g., sub-responses, etc.). Adding this feature would make the Populi discussion experience much more intuitive and user-friendly for instructors as well as students.

Ginger Howell I have my PhD in instructional design, and my dissertation dealt with online discussions. Not allowing students to comment on responses, especially to teachers's responses, really hinders knowledge construction, which is the whole point of discussions. I see that Populi is not planning on this feature, but I request Populi to reconsider this function. This would take discussions from an accountability exercise into an activity that grows understanding and facilitates collaboration.
The faculty on my team is requesting this feature. Please reconsider!!!!!

Jeromey Martini Agreed!

Wayne Flora I am professor at PTS -- we need this feature for guided and constructive responses to responses. As instructor, I cannot respond to peer-to-peer replies without noting in primary thread -- students easily miss the directive if it is not directly under their thread. Wayne Flora

Anna Spears Yes, please add this feature. -
Samuel Howard This would be very useful!

Gail Schlosser Yes, please! Allowing replies to replies will be very helpful!

Adam Sentz @Gail - We are planning to add replies to replies, but not replies to replies to replies.

Andrew Sears Agreed. This could be very helpful. The wall of text problem can be very confusing.
