Isaac Grauke Hi Dennis, thanks for this request. Is anyone else interested in more donor management capabilities in Populi? What are you using now? What do you like/dislike?

Jonathan Paulk We are interested in being able to process donations online through Populi. We have a donor tracking system currently. I am not one of the primary users of that system,but I would imagine we would want to take a look at a donor management module from Populi.

George Gunn We're also shopping for a donor management system. We are currently using an older application by Hunter Systems called "GifTrak." As a legacy application, it doesn't install under Win 7, so we're looking for something else. I'd love to see this incorporated into Populi.

Bobby Mercer I'm using Populi for donors to the best of my ability, but it could be so much more powerful. Currently I'm entering major donors, keeping info like birthdays and anniversaries that we want to acknowledge. I've added custom tags to keep groups separate, but without the use of the data slicer, I'm really limited. I would like to be able to contact groups of donors who have given a certain dollar amount or who have given in a specific time period. I would like to know what Alumni members have given, etc. We are a small college and building our donor list, and as a small organization, we have very limited financial and time resources for donor relations. The ability to "double dip" with Populi in this area would be amazing!

Tom Kruppstadt We use Raiser's Edge by Blackbaud -- supposedly THE industry standard. We have done a lot of research, and we're not impressed with anything available. We really really want Populi to add donor management as soon as possible. There is nothing available that is in the cloud (fully and reasonably functional - and works with Mac stuff), intuitive, integrated, cost effective... all the great things about Populi. There is money to be made here that Populi is leaving for others to take.

Jason Abell Bethlehem College and Seminary is currently using the open-source CiviCRM contact management system to manage our donors. This allows donors to give through our website, it tracks all contacts with our donors, and allows us to export various reports about giving to our organization. For open-source it is very helpful. Unfortunately, it does not print receipts, we have to do those separately. We are currently looking into developing our own internal database of donors and donations so that we can slice and dice the data in ways that are more helpful to our president.
If Populi wants to develop a donor management system, that could be helpful. I noticed above that Populi would like to hear what users would find most useful. Feel free to contact me offline if you are really interested in more about what would be helpful to us as an institution.

Sam Horowitz The President & Director of Development have reminded me that they are interested in a Populi-based Donor management/development module.
Something that would track contributions, generate reports/slice data, understand regular annual campaigns vs. capital campaigns, allow us to build & develop donor profiles/propensity to give data, etc. I'm sure they could give you more detail of what they are looking for.

Danny Casey I noticed in the February 17th - 24th Release Notes that the Donor Module is in beta. Yay! What is the anticipated release date? What functionality will it have? How much will it cost? Do you need additional beta sites?
We are in dire need of a donor management program and I am currently researching options. My preference would be to have it available in Populi as our objective is to have just one database program for all of our needs.

Adam Sentz @Danny - That's right, Donors is in beta. It's fully functional at this point, but we wanted to get some miles on it before we rolled it out to everyone. It's fairly basic at this point, but you can take donations online, keep track of and donors and donations, and print receipts.
If you (or anyone else) would like access right away just let us know via a support request.
There's no additional cost for Donors.

Carlos Marin One thing that would be helpful is to be able to set-up pledge "statements" for each donor and as the donations come in, they are applied against those statements. Pretty much like invoices, except without that wording. Make sense?
