It would be absolutely FANTASTIC if Populi were more keyboard accessible. Do you currently have any keyboard shortcuts? I've noticed that right now, I don't even get a "dotted box of focus" around links when I tab to them, making it all but impossible to browse Populi with a keyboard. The addition of keyboard shortcuts and other keyboard accessibility features would be a step up, for sure.

Adam Sentz I've added some basic focus styles into our current development build so keep an eye out for our next release.
Populi had some keyboard shortcuts in the past, but we found that they would just stop working for no apparent reason often enough that they just caused too much frustration. Maybe we'll revisit them at some point if we can find a more stable solution.

Elizabeth Reed yes Yes YES!!!! I find Populi to be very awkward to navigate using my keyboard. It is very time-consuming to be switching back and forth constantly from keyboard to mouse. As a high-functioning :) keyboard user I find it very annoying to have to mouse everywhere. Also I agree that it is very difficult to see what field you are on when tabbing through the page. Also, some of the drop-down lists work with keyboard and some don't.
So, for me it is not so much having keyboard shortcuts, as it is just having better keyboard navigation and selection.

I noticed in 2010 you mentioned that you may revisit keyboard shortcuts for accessibility. Is this still being worked on or has it been implemented?

Ginger Howell I'm trying to improve the accessibility of our courses as far as the multi-media we implement and the headings we utilize. As I am going through 508 Accessibility standards, I've learned that students need to have keyboard navigation available. For example, they should be able to go from tab to tab using the Tab key or the arrow keys on the keyboard. This is something that I am unable to do from my end, and I was wondering what you had in place to meet this expectation.

Adam Sentz @Ginger - Populi can be navigated with Tab to go forward through fields, Shift+Tab to go backwards and Return to "click". Like I mentioned a few years ago we made sure that there were focus styles on everything so you can see which links are focused as you Tab through. If this isn't working for you there may be something funny going on with your browser.
