It would help us a lot if we could automate not only when registration opens, but also when it closes.

Kate Potter We have everyone preregister and the deadline is one month prior to classes starting. After that, there is an additional fee for late registration. It would be helpful to have a way to close registration so everyone who registers late could be charged the extra fee.

Patty Tsai We also would like to be able to choose a close date for online registration before the semester starts. We give students an earlier close date so that we can determine if we need to drop sections. We also require adviser approval for changes during the add/drop period. It seems strange to have registration open, but I have to have it locked for everyone.

Kate Potter Is this update still being considered? We would love to see it happen since I also have to apply the registration lock once our registration closes before the semester begins.

Kate Potter And our drop date actual comes during the semester so both of those features don't help us in the way they are intended.

Kate Potter Sorry @Adam. I realized afterward that my comment may be confusing. Students are still allowed to drop classes once the term has started but they have to get faculty to sign off on it so we lock everything on Populi down so they can't do it on their own (there are additional fees depending on when they drop, etc). Both the add/drop feature and the registration closing don't actually help us with any administration since they can't do what we need them to with the way our college has been setup.

Jesse Johnson This would be awesome. Add/drop dates are different than registration closing. We want students to register for all their courses for the whole year at our school by August. Then as classes start, which are very short (one to two week classes), we would allow students to DROP a class if they need to. If there is still space in another class and it is at least a week ahead of class the class start, the student could ADD that class. But to me registration closing and add/drop features are two very different things. Thanks for your consideration.

Drew Oliver This feature would be very helpful. Registration and Add/Drop periods are two different things. Registration is for classes next semester and only lasts a week (at our school) and add/drop periods affect classes a student is currently taking and may or may not ultimately be reflect on a transcript. At our school, registration isn't rolling all year so we need the ability to close registration automatically, just like I can schedule it to open automatically.

Grace Johnson Agreed! Right now we open Registration in early August, then we have to use the Add/Drop dates have registration "close" the end of August. Then when the semester starts, we have to change the Add/Drop date to a later date in the year so students can still drop a class if something changes in their schedule. This is why yes, technically we can use the Add/Drop feature to "close" registration, but it doesn't make any sense because we don't want our students to have to Add/Drop all classes before the school year starts. Remember in college when you could go to a few weeks of class and still decide to drop it or get into another class after it started? Add/drop is usually congruent with classes (both are happening at the same time), but registration needs to have hard end date so we can get a picture of class sizes for the year. Not sure if this helps, but just trying to explain why need a "close registration" feature.

George Park This feature is necessary so that online registration is CLOSED prior to the Add/Drop Date. The End Date Online Registration will be prior to the Start Date of the term.
This feature will allow Academics to review class size and potentially increase class size or cancel classes based on enrollment at the End Date Online Registration.

George Park This requires someone to add that registration lock for all users. But I'm trying to organize this for a future date instead of doing it manually on a given date. Hence the request.
So I'm hoping that as the conditions of the Academic Term is created.
1) Start Date
2) End Date
3) Add/Drop
New) End of Online Registration <----- This could be added.
4) Grades Due
