I would highly recommend a student account receivable aging report to be used monthly and to also be used to give to our auditors at the end of the fiscal year.
This report is very helpful and can save time by giving you an accurate picture and total of your outstanding invoices and student balances.

Have either of you who have posted here found a good way to get something like an A/R aging report? Right now I am sifting through the student balances section, but have to drill down to each account to find out if there is pending aid or a recent payment...not very efficient.

Sorry no I have not. It's rather time consuming. I also do what you are taking about as well. It's rather inefficient.

The Student Balances report in Billing > Current has an "As Of" filter, so you can get balances of a certain amount as of a particular date. If you ran it three times, you could get the 30, 60, and 90-day balances. Obviously, that's more work than we want to make you do, but perhaps that would be a stopgap until we build that report out a bit more.
What columns do y'all need this report to show? Dawn mentioned Pending Aid and Recent Payments. Would 30, 60, and 90-day columns also help? Anything else?
I would like the aged trial balance
report from billing>current>student balances to show 0-29 day balance, 30-59, 60-89, 90-119, and 120 + and then the final column to show total balance student owes. Pending Aid and Recent payments need to show on student statement that we get from here.
Brendon, is this something we could build on our end via the API's? We need an interim solution until Populi has this feature. :-)

Yes, in addition to showing pending aid and payments made, the 30, 60, 90, and 120+ columns would be great with a total balance due at the end. One option would be to show just the total of all pending aid on the account and either date and amount of most recent payment, or if there's room, any payments that correspond to the aged balance time frame.
We need to be able to identify overdue accounts, at a glance, without having to go back and forth from the student balances section to each individual profile to see what is going on.
Hi Brendan - The workaround you suggested does not provide the info that we need to compile our own aging report. As far as I can tell, your method simply provides the amounts that were unpaid as of the chosen date. Instead, we need to know how much of the current outstanding balance is older than 120,90, 60, etc. days. Since our auditors require an aging report, we are running parallel with our accounting system, which duplicates the transaction processing. Any chance of getting this one bumped to the top of the list? Our auditors will be here next week and it would be great to give them an update.

We need to better manage our accounts receivable and track students who are not paying on time. Our auditors also have pushed us to be able to produce aged reports for accounts receivable. It would be great if the report listed the student name and any past due amounts that fall into 30, 60, 90, and 120+ date ranges. It would be fantastic if this could be implemented soon. We have the same issue as Maria above. Our auditors expect us to produce aging reports with the report providing balance information within the date ranges. Thank you very much for any assistance in getting this report added to the financial reporting processes.
I'd like to add my "amen" to the requests for a Student A/R aging report. Our banker recently asked for one. I spent my morning creating a reasonable facsimile of an aging report. You start with student balances as of a month-end date, export to excel, then stratify based on due date. Take a sum at the bottom of the amounts due column. (Careful: the report will start with Jan 1 and will mix up the years, so in order to have a report in date order, you will have to move prior year due dates to the top of the report by cut and paste.) What I do is to add columns such as 120 days + old, 90 etc to the right of the data. The I use my sum key in each column to add up everything before a certain date. Example: for Feb 28, everything due Nov 30 and before would be summed in a 120 days plus column. After you have added as many columns as make sense to you, you can sum each column at the bottom of the report, the sum across the aging columns. That number should tie to the original sum of the amounts due column. (Another snag, after month end, you can't go back and create a point-in-time report. If you stratify Feb 28th on March 15th, you will get a sum of the March 15th receivables, not Feb 28th.)
To agree with Sharon and other above, I hope that Populi can give us an aging A/R report soon. (Our year-end is June 30th and our auditors always require an aging schedule.)
