Up until this point, our finance department has never had to manage the room assignments. It has always been done by the Student Services Department. Finance is usually only concerned with the room charges.
Now, because we are using Populi, the Finance Department has to take on yet another role. This has added to an already heavy workload for our department. I am sure that our institution is not the only one that would find this difficult.

Housing is done by the Student Life department here (as I guess it's done in a lot of other schools) so to have it tied to finances seems odd.
We'd love to be able to track housing in Populi but last time we tried it was very difficult. Anytime we moved people around before they came (which happens often) their previous invoice was voided and they were issued a new one. This made their finances look very messy. Even if we wanted to do that it would mean giving Student Life financial access OR making the finance dept do housing, which isn't going to happen. So now we track housing on an excel spreadsheet and tag people.
We're just working through the process of getting ready for our new semester and this issue came up.
I'm not sure I understand why specific room assignments are tied to the Finance role? Our Student Life department handles room designations as well and have nothing to do with billing/finances.
Are there any plans to make room assignments/facilities issues their own user role? Is the financial aspect of room changes still a little messy as indicated as well due to the tie-in with finances?
