Hi,

Just read the blog about the new features for course instances and noticed the last line about having "something better in store" instead of ItunesU.  

I wanted to put my 2 cents in for wishing that we could someone integrate recorded lectures as mp3 files into course instances.  Obviously that would require server hard drive space but we would be open to hosting the files and somehow linking them into the course instances for students to stream or download.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has a need/desire for this.

  Daniel,

  We'll be announcing the details soon, but the long and the short of it is that you'll be able to host larger files (audio and video) through Populi and seamlessly integrate them into (for instance) course lessons; additionally, we'll encode them in such a way that they'd be playable on almost any kind of device. So, yeah, this is coming.

  I'm very glad to hear this. This will be a great addition to Populi, especially if it involves greater storage space on Populi's servers. I like to do recorded narrations of PowerPoint in my classes, then make the recorded PowerPoints available. This is especially helpful either for students who miss a class, or to make available to distance learning students. And the recorded PowerPoints do not take nearly as much space as a full video recording.

  Should be another week or so. We're deep in the testing phase right now, and believe me, we can't wait to get this out to everyone! I saw your request this morning, and your situation is exactly what we're planning to solve with the new release.
