We plan our course sections and enrollment capacities based on the number of students who are planning to enroll each semester. We used online registration for the first time this semester, which was great, but ran into a little issue with the waiting list. We would like to be able to turn off waitlisting, so that students can only choose the course sections with openings.

Adam Sentz Official comment You can now turn off waitlisting in a course by changing the Waiting List Management setting to None.

Brendan O'Donnell Mike,
Thanks for the idea. In the meantime, would a generous "Max Enrollment" number accommodate you? If a course has "300" openings, it'd be hard to run into the Wait List...

Mike Krauss Brendan,
The max enrollment was set to 30 per section and they went over into the
waiting list.Mike

Brendan O'Donnell Mike,
Gotcha. I hear what you're saying now. So, it could work like this: 30 students enroll in Section 1 of a course with Max Enrollment of 30; Section 1 disappears as an option on the Registration screen and the "only" option left is now Section 2. Does that get at it better?

Mike Krauss Yes, that's correct. (Sorry I didn't realize you responded.)

Phuong Nguyen Hey Mike,
I made a related post regarding Waitlist here: https://support.populiweb.com/entries/28226316-Allow-students-to-Waitlist-in-a-section-but-register-for-another-section-of-same-course
Let me know what you think and if it could accomplish what you're looking for as well.
Best,

Dr. Beemer Has anything happened with this? We would like to be able to have the option to turn off waitlist as well. Because waitlisted classes don't impact credit counts, we've found that billing can be off initially because of the waitlisted classes. This semester the office missed a student on the waitlist until 4 weeks into the class. The student was new and didn't realize he was even registered for the class until it was too late to do anything.

Adam Sentz @Dr. Beemer - This is going to be addressed soon.
