I think it would be a great library cataloging feature to integrate or identify MARC equivalents. In the event we want our catalog integrated with OCLC, it might be helpful.

Seth Allen I completely agree with Christy. We need full MARC records so that using importing records from Z39 servers will be seamless. I too would like for our library to eventually join the worldcat.org network and need to be able to share bib records with other libraries.

Brad Florence I wold have to agree with both of the comments. For example, in the author field, it is important for us to include the subfield “c” with the writer’s religious order, such as SVD, in addition to the “d” (date) field.

Adam Sentz Populi's Library is based on Dublin Core. It already has many MaRC equivalent fields based on the LIbrary of Congress MaRC to Dublin Core Crosswalk, but will never have full MaRC compatibility as it's a fundamentally different standard. You can export MaRC records from a Resource Batch and see what fields are already covered. If there are other fields included in the LIbrary of Congress MaRC to Dublin Core Crosswalk that aren't currently included that you'd like included you can let us know via a support request.
