Trigger Room Plan Based on Custom Info Field

It would be cool to trigger Room Plan fees based on custom info field(s). We have a field that the admissions office fills out when the student indicates that they will be on-campus. If this field could trigger the Room Plan fee it would save a step. I realize we can discontinue using the Room Plan feature and just add a fee, but then we would loose important information for Room & Board.
