I would like to request that for the "first time" filter in the Data Slicer, the data used for that would be whether or not the student has a transfer institution registered in their student information.
So if they have no transfer institution, they are classified as first time; if they have one or more transfer institutions, they are not classified as first time.
@Lindsay - IPEDS defines a first-time student as:
"A student who has no prior postsecondary experience (except as noted below) attending any institution for the first time at the undergraduate level. This includes students enrolled in academic or occupational programs. It also includes students enrolled in the fall term who attended college for the first time in the prior summer term, and students who entered with advanced standing (college credits earned before graduation from high school)."
It's entirely possible that a student would have no transfer institutions and be not be considered first time, or that they would have transfer credits and also be considered first time.

So, would there really be any way to systematically filter that? Sounds like it's something that needs to be determined on a case by case basis.
@Lindsay - It's based on the Prospect Info field "Ed. Level". If that field is set to "Less than 9th grade", "9th to 12th grade", "High School Diploma", or "Unknown" then the student will be considered first-time for their first academic year.

I am finding a number of students (38) who are listed as first time and full time on my Fall Enrollment report for IPEDS from Fall 2016, who have Some College or even degrees as their Ed Level. How are they making it into the IPEDS first time, fall time Fall Enrollment report?
